                                              WOMEN’S COUNSELLING COMMITTEE (WCC) 

Shree Chandraprabhu Jain College has established the Women Counselling Committee (WCC) to empower girl students, to address all issues related to women and to make the college campus a safe place for female students and faculty members. The main objective of the committee is to motivate, empower women and secure feminine gender. It aims to promote general well-being and empowerment of female students, teaching and non-teaching women staff of the college. In order to maintain the safety and security of the girls and women, a cell has been constituted for redressal of grievances which ensures equality and protection for women against all forms of harassment and problems faced. During last few years, the difficulties of the girls are settled amicably. Women who have complaints of violation of their rights and non-implementation of their protective measures can directly approach the committee for redressal. All the girl students are given about the safety measures by members of the women welfare committee. The team organizes health awareness program, solves issues and complaints related to women and counsel them. It works for women welfare, conducts women’s day program in a grand manner and also motivates and orient the girl student to identify their strengths, develops multidisciplinary approach for the overall personality development.

OBJECTIVES A Women Counselling Committee is constituted at the Institution level with the objectives as follows  Identification of strong leader ship and change makers and building the capacity of women  To promote a culture of respect and equality for female gender  To conduct seminar, workshop to impart knowledge of opportunities and tools available and train the women  To inculcate entrepreneurial attitude among young girls, at the earliest so that they can be “job givers” rather than “job takers”  To make women understand that Empowered and educated women are less likely to fall prey to sexual abuse, workplace harassment, domestic abuse many more  To create a conducive counselling environment and encourage girl students to discuss their problems with teachers without any hesitation.

 To address the informal and formal complaints of any female employee or student and provide them with necessary guidance and support and to ensure the fair and timely resolution of the complaints. AWARENESS The Committee commits to take the following steps to create awareness on women related issues and to eradicate sexual harassment.  To invite eminent personalities to give talks on various issues related to women.  To conduct guest lectures, seminars, workshops, awareness programmes and other welfare activities in different areas such as legal, career and social aspects, to avoid involuntary sexual acts such as rape, inappropriate touching, groping or torture in a sexual manner.  The Committee also will give the awareness on hygiene and will make sure of a healthy ambiance in and around the college.  To provide them with the knowledge of their redressal of grievances.  To provide Counselling services for female gender to share their problems.

INITIATIVES TAKEN  To ensure Women’s safety in the campus, CCTV’s are installed at different locations.  The college has given provision for girl’s COMMON ROOM which is equipped with attached washroom and furniture where the girl students can sit and take rest.  From each class, one GIRL REPRESENTATIVE is included as a member of the committee.  POSTERS ABOUT THE COMMITTEE are prepared and displayed in all general notice boards of the college.

MEETINGS OF THE COMMITTEE Our committee is a functionary body which meets every month, and if required, emergency meeting will be called at any required time. INSTRUCTIONS TO GIRL STUDENTS  Proper dress code should be followed. Body fit clothing, transparent or revealing outfits should be avoided.  Harassment of any nature should be reported to the WWC members or higher authorities for redressal.

 Don’t travel with people that you don’t trust, go straight home from college and if you are going late, call your parents to avoid getting in trouble and keeping them from worrying.  Don’t reveal personal information about yourself over the phone. If someone calls doing a survey or offering something, just tell them you are unable to answer their questions.  Carry some emergency cash with you. Always have emergency contacts with you or in your device.
